Over a hundred dazzling photographs of Laredo and Webb County were recently submitted by the public to the Webb County Heritage Foundation’s second annual “Historic Laredo” Photo Competition. The quality and content of the photos is amazing and it’s clear that there are some very talented people out there taking photos of our community.

What is even more impressive is the choice of sites and subject matter reflected in the photos. The competition guidelines asked for photos to be submitted that represent the community’s history or heritage such as a landmark, historical architecture, landscape, representative event, or architectural feature.

Thirteen winning photos will be selected in a blind judging. These will form the basis of the “Historic Laredo” Calendar for 2013. Last year’s calendar sold out almost immediately, and from the entries submitted this year, we are certain that the 2012 Calendar will be a big hit.

The winners will be announced in August and an exhibit of all the entries will be presented at the Villa Antigua Border Heritage Museum in December where the 2013 Calendar will be formally launched.
